Kathryn provided us with a very tasty and filling breakfast before inviting us up to their top paddock to check on their orphaned lambs. One wasn't expected to make it through the night - and didn't, but that's life on a farm. Once back at the farmhouse we organised a walk into Axminster - about half an hour. Along this narrow lane we had to flatten ourselves against the hedgerows a couple of times as cars came past - very slowly, of course.
We explored this little village - not much to see but found a great little book shop and a tourist information place where we got maps for tomorrow's planned walk. Then we made our way to The River Cottage Canteen & Deli - made famous on tv with Hugh Fernley-Whittingstall. The River Cottage Farm is further out of town and very expensive if you want to eat there.
The canteen's food was delicious. Steph had fried haloumi with a beetroot, orange, salad leaves and cashew salad. I had pan fried gurnard fish with broccolini, roasted fennel and chips. The walk back to Wyke Farm helped it all to digest. Weather turning cold and overcast. Walked 6.4km.

Drove into Lyme Regis to meet up with Liz and Steve Fawns - neighbors from Rous Mill. They are also travelling around the UK and eventually heading to Scotland. We walked around the picturesque, fishing harbour with them and had a coffee/hot chocolate on the beachfront. They only stayed a while as they were heading to Fowey, further down the south coast. We went to find the Town Mill Bakery where we had a tasty lunch - seems like a popular place with both locals and tourists.
After a quick trip back to Wyke Farm to collect Steph's hiking shoes, we then drove to Beer (yes, it's a place), where we parked near a very uninviting holiday village. This was the starting point for a spectacular coastal walk. We followed the cliff path for about 45 minutes looking down sheer cliffs to a narrow stony beach and very calm sea. We ended at a steep spot overlooking the coastal village of Branscombe. We rested for a while, took some more pics before returning along the path back to the car. (I'm getting a bit of a collection of Pay-and-display receipts).
